When a good peanut is on the line, it's anything goes. A Black-capped Chickadee grabs another by its tail feathers in hopes of getting its peanut. The one with the peanut ended up getting away, and the tail-grabber had to settle for a different peanut from the peanut pile.
This photo was featured in Living Bird magazine, Winter 2020 issue.
It was also awarded first place in the Behavior category in the 2020 Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC) photo contest.
